Objectives of the SICF

Coins are important and tangible evidence of the monetary circumstances of a particular period and provide information about significant aspects of the economy. It is our objective to collect and make accessible all the information about coin finds and similar objects (such as pilgrims’ badges, counters, tokens etc.) from Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein. Objects from all periods are of interest, provided they are finds.

The records are stored electronically; the SICF neither owns nor manages originals.

The information is recorded on a database. Certain assemblages are published by the SICF in detailed studies. Our objective is to promote and support the study of coin finds in Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein. The database is available to all interested parties. We can be contacted either by letter or email. Alternatively, feel free to drop by in person and consult the database at our office in Berne. We plan to provide online access in the near future.
