Information about the «Archives online»

A lot of coins are no longer genuinely available today: The were put back in circulation as medium of exchange, melted down because of their metallic value or are lying around in public or private collections without any certificate of provenance. Therefore, the SICF has to consider documents from archives as well, often the only indication of once substantial ensembles of coins.

On the basis of the archives of the Historic and Antiquarian Society of Basel (HAG), the Antiquarian Society of Zurich (AGZ) and the Central Library of Zurich (ZBZ), the SICF has programmed a database with more than 5000 transcriptions, that can be searched online. The transcriptions of these three available transcriptions were ordered by the SICF and conducted by Martin Trachsel (AGZ and ZBZ) and Stephen Doswald (HAG).

The databases of the SICF are open source and can be reused non-commercially. At the moment, the coins online, the archives online, the library online and the dictionary online are available. Please contact us for more information. Authorized persons can manage the online databases at the administration area.
